Teri Nicholas

President & CEO

Teri Nicholas is president & CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, one of British Columbia’s largest charities. The foundation supports the work of BC Children’s Hospital, its research institute and Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children. Teri joined the foundation in January 2011 and led the organization to the completion of a $200-million capital campaign, the Campaign for BC Children, to support the construction of a new BC Children’s Hospital - a $683-million project that will transform the delivery of care to children in communities around the province. Teri’s leadership and emphasis on winning broad community support for, and on building awareness of, this project helped to bring the campaign to its successful conclusion in November 2013.

Prior to joining the foundation, Teri held the position of CEO at Family Services of Greater Vancouver for 10 years. Teri has over 30 years of senior leadership experience in the not-for-profit social-service sector, working closely with advocacy groups, community agencies, funders and major donors, and with the federal, provincial and municipal governments at senior levels. Throughout her career, Teri has contributed her time and talents to many not-for-profit organizations provincially and nationally, and has developed and implemented a range of services for marginalized populations in the Lower Mainland.

Teri holds a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of British Columbia and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Hitesh Kothary

Vice-President & Chief Financial Officer

Hitesh Kothary joined the foundation in 2015 and is responsible for all financial, legal and administrative activities of the foundation.

Prior to joining the foundation, Hitesh held senior financial positions at various private sector organizations and has leadership experience in strategic planning and direction, management of operations, business transformation, and investment and risk management. Hitesh has also served on various boards in the not-for-profit sector.

Hitesh holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and obtained his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1988.

Maria Faccio

Vice-President and Chief Philanthropy Officer

Maria Faccio is the associate vice-president of Philanthropy, responsible for overseeing the foundation’s annual programs while contributing to the organization's strategic vision.

Maria has been with the foundation for over 20 years and has held many different positions ranging from Donor Services administration, fundraising and event coordinator, development officer and director of Annual Programs and Philanthropy. Maria has extensive collaborative leadership and people management experience from a decade of involvement in the recruitment, coaching and management of staff.

Maria also has over 11 years of direct account management experience with a portfolio focused on major corporate and community partners, such as Overwaitea Food Group, TELUS and the Michael Cuccione Foundation. Her work in recruiting, building and managing volunteer leadership, including committee chairs, executive and cabinet members, has contributed to the success of numerous fundraising campaigns.

Maria is a member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy and holds a degree in General Studies from Simon Fraser University.

Lillian Hum

Vice-President and Chief Philanthropy Officer

As associate vice-president of Philanthropy, Lillian is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the foundation’s Major Gifts and Donor Relations programs. She joined the foundation in 2011 as director, Donor Relations and led the development of a comprehensive Donor Relations program prior to joining the executive team in 2013.

Having served over 10 years with VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation as its director, Donor Relations, Lillian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. She has worked extensively with community philanthropists and leaders across our province. Prior to shifting into the social profit sector, Lillian spent 10 years with the BC Lions Football Club and last held the position of operations administrator, responsible for managing key relationships with the club’s sponsors and day-to-day operations.

Lillian is a member of both the Association of Donor Relations Professionals and the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and holds a bachelor of arts degree in Communications and a certificate in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University.
