BC Children’s Hospital Foundation
938 West 28th Avenue
Vancouver, BC V5Z 4H4

Donations can be made online, by calling the Foundation at 604-875-2444 or toll-free 1-888-663-3033, or by mail.

The Foundation provides funding to meet the priorities of BC Children’s Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute. Funding priorities are established by the senior administration of these facilities, not by Foundation staff. Requests for funding are submitted to the Foundation by the hospital administration.

Yes. Several times a year individuals contracted by the Foundation do door-to-door fundraising. Anyone undertaking door-to-door fundraising on our behalf will have badges identifying them as representing BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Yes! Each year, hundreds of caring individuals and groups raise money for BC Children’s Hospital in their own creative ways by hosting independent community events. These events include everything from bake sales and golf tournaments to shaved-head challenges. Are you ready to organize your own fundraising event for BC Children’s Hospital? All it takes is a little creativity, some careful planning and the desire to make a difference in the lives of BC's kids. Find out more.

The Foundation contacts its supporters or potential donors several times a year by mail. The purpose of these mailings is to: 1) ensure we remain accountable for the dollars we raise by providing information on hospital and Foundation activities; and 2) generate additional support. The types of mailings undertaken by the Foundation include letters (direct mail) asking for support; our magazine, Shine, three times a year to individuals who have made a contribution of $50 or more in the past year; and our annual report once a year to individuals who have contributed $1,000 or more in the past year.

Yes. Please submit your request to be removed from the mailing list to info@bcchf.ca. Please include your name and address and state which mailings you no longer wish to receive: direct mail, Shine magazine, or the annual report. You can also sign up to receive our publications electronically.

The magazine and our annual report are two vehicles we use to let people know where their donations go. In addition, the magazine generates additional revenue because we always include an envelope inviting donors to make further contributions. Last year, we realized over $100,000 in donations through the magazine.

The magazine and annual report are available on our website for people who choose not to receive it by mail. Sign up to receive the two publications electronically.

Your lottery ticket purchases have a tremendous impact on BC Children’s Hospital’s research programs, which deliver direct benefits to children in BC, across Canada and around the world. Since BC Children’s Hospital held its first lottery in 2002, lotteries have contributed over $64 million to research at BC Children’s Hospital.

  • Our lotteries are entirely self-funded. This means that all costs, including prizes, advertising and fees are covered by revenue from ticket sales. The net proceeds have an immense impact on the success of our research programs. Between 25 and 30 per cent of lottery proceeds are used to support research. We do not use donated funds to cover any of our lottery costs.
  • BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s lotteries are conducted as a business that is quite separate from the charity side of our operations. BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s lotteries are overseen by a committee of the Board of Directors.  Risks are carefully managed and we adhere strictly to BC Government rules and regulations regarding gaming.

We are grateful for the loyalty of our ticket purchasers who participate in our lotteries for the opportunity to win great prizes and with the certainty that they are helping BC’s children.
